14th March 2020

The RFTL and Rotaract Club of Colombo Uptown board members met today to discuss the prevailing situation of the country and the next steps to be taken.

With the best interest of the public, the Rotaract Club of Colombo Uptown has decided to postpone Run For Their Lives 2020.

We believe that under these circumstances it would be irresponsible to have large public gatherings although it is for a worthy cause. While this is not an easy decision to make, given that we are only 2 weeks from the event, being a responsible youth organization, we believe it is necessary to take all precautions.

We thank you for the widespread support given towards this cause up to now. Our crowdfunding donation platform on GoFundMe will remain active as we continue to collect donations towards the cause.

Our team will be reviewing our plans to continue RFTL at alternative date in the upcoming months and will make an announcement on this on the 28th of April. Registered runners will receive an email with this announcement as well. We will keep this page updated for any changes in the meantime.

We thank you for your understanding as we try our best to accommodate and adjust to a situation which is beyond our control, and hope you will continue to support us in making this event a success and achieve our objectives of creating awareness on cancer among youth in Sri Lanka and raise funds for the Apeksha Hospital.

Immediate next steps:

  • Halt all registration with immediate effect
  • Update all sponsors and registered runners in the days to come
  • Update all bookings to a feasible and tentative future date
  • Evaluate the situation of the country and announce the new dates and details to sponsors, registered runner and public
